Eve” is a photographic work that juxtaposes cultural archetypes with raw human presence. The piece presents a young, naked woman lying on the grass, her body stretched out and her gaze unwavering. The title, suggestive of the biblical Eve, invites viewers to confront their deeply ingrained cultural and symbolic associations. This evocative image challenges traditional narratives, refusing to conform to conventional depictions of innocence, temptation, or sin. Instead, it creates a space for ambiguity, breaking apart rigid patterns of representation and interpretation. The tension between the subject’s vulnerable pose and her assertive gaze draws the viewer into a profound contemplation of identity, power, and perception. As critic Bettina Haiss noted, “Surprised, we lose ourselves in Marcin’s translations, which open up rigid patterns of representation and interpretation and put us in a salutary speechlessness that moves us to shift our values, i.e., to rethink.
