The Onassis Foundation reports on Nadja Verena Marcin’s project #SOPHYGRAY—an immersive installation and performance—featuring a new app developed during her EMAP residency at Onassis Stegi in 2022/23, and presented at the 20th Media Art Biennale WRO in May 2023. #SOPHYGRAY, a feminist audio bot, engages users in intersectional feminist dialogue, aiming to challenge gender biases in technology. At the Biennale, it was showcased both as an installation and a performance featuring the artist and two dancers. The project also earned an Honorary Mention at the European Union Prize for Citizen Science, celebrating its innovative use of feminist literature and everyday voices to spark meaningful conversations around AI and gender. It will also be exhibited at Ars Electronica.
