Room to Bloom: Artists Talks II is a hybrid lecture event showcasing the creative work of three artists—Niki Analyti, Elly Cho, and Nadja Verena Marcin—as they explore the complexities of technology, memory, and patriarchy in a rapidly digitizing world. This event is part of the Biennale Warszawa, which reflects on the opportunities and dangers presented by the evolving virtual landscape. The talk will feature these artists’ unique perspectives, each challenging conventional narratives and offering imaginative alternatives for the future.

Nadja Verena Marcin presents her project, the feminist audio bot #SOPHYGRAY (2021-2023), which critiques virtual assistants like Alexa and Siri by infusing them with groundbreaking feminist theory from voices like bell hooks and Audre Lorde. Marcin’s work humorously exposes the gender biases embedded in VA technology, posing questions about the implications of female-coded voices in digital spaces. This talk invites audiences—both in-person and online—to engage in a dynamic dialogue with the artists, including hands-on interactions with Marcin’s virtual cyborg, #SOPHYGRAY, via a downloadable app.
