The inaugural FORT Biennale, In the Body of Language (Im Körper der Sprache / Nel corpo del linguaggio), transforms Franzensfeste fortress into a space for exploring the connections between language, identity, and the body. Curated by Ulrike Buck and Margareth Kaserer, the exhibition features contemporary works by artists such as melanie bonajo, Toni Schmale, Özlem Altin, Nadja Verena Marcin, and Alexandra Cardenas, alongside iconic pieces by Tracey Emin, Roni Horn, and others from the Museion collection.
Language is explored as a living entity—shaping worlds, reflecting societal shifts, and fostering connection. The fortress, historically a site of control, becomes a hub for sensory encounters and artistic synergies. The exhibition is accompanied by performances, workshops, and a Biennale book by Venice-based publisher bruno.
