Moltkerei Werkstatt in Cologne presents OPHELIA’S CEREMONY, a solo exhibition by artist Nadja Verena Marcin, as part of the DC Open Gallery Weekend. The exhibition features a striking live performance in which Marcin submerges herself in a water-filled aquarium mounted on a steel structure, attempting to recite Daniil Kharms’ The Werld. The work explores the limits of human perception and the failure of communication with haunting physicality.

Marking the European premiere of Marcin’s international OPHELIA tour, the exhibition offers a compelling intersection of performance, literature, and ecological reflection. On September 20, the program includes OPHELIA. Bad Girls, Bad Climate & the Power of Subversion—an artist talk featuring Marcin in conversation with Astrid Bardenheuer (Director, artothek Köln) and Tim Mrosek (Theater Director/Dramaturg). Together, they delve into the creative process and unpack the feminist and ecological narratives at the heart of the work.

The exhibition is generously supported by the Kulturamt der Stadt Köln, FP-Racing, Franklin Furnace, Kickstarter, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Puffin Foundation
