Live Performance + Video Sculpture (rendering)

OPHELIA is an architectural live performance and video sculpture, focusing on the human destruction of the biosphere. OPHELIA will take place over a two-year tour (2017 - 2019) of solo exhibitions (Miami - NYC – San Francisco – Santa Cruz – Berlin – Stuttgart – Cologne - Rome) conceived and led by artist Nadja Verena Marcin in collaboration with Franklin Furnace, local curators/producers, galleries, museums and several Goethe Institutes. The project merges body art, science and technology, lays out relationships between the Anthropocene age and gender inequality, and speaks to the democratizing potential of the meme of historical icons including “Ophelia” (John Everett Millais, 1852), “Three Ball Total Equilibrium Tank” (Jeff Koons, 1985), and text from “The Werld” (Daniil Kharms, 1939).
